OCL hosts Unity Conference – AOI – The American Orthodox Institute – USA

OCL hosts Unity Conference

DATE: October 29-31, 2009

LOCATION: Antiochian Village, Ligonier, PA

American Orthodox Christianity is already unified in doctrine and fellowship but we are not unified as jurisdictions. Orthodox Christianity can flourish in America and our Orthodox faith can give much to our nation in return. The timining of the OCL Fall Meeting is between the pre-conciliar meetings taking place in Europe. The June Meeting established a process for unity in America. The Patriarchs bless the establishment of Episcopal Assemblies to begin to define a structure of a unified self governed church. Clergy and Laity are urgent to participate and provided input. Let us reason together at the OCL Fall Meeting to promote unity in America.

The Road to Unity is blessed by Met. Philip, Met. Jonah, and Met. Christopher. Keynote will be delivered by Met. Jonah. Other hierarchs attending include Abp. Nathaniel of Detroit and Bp. Thomas of Charleston, and the list is growing.

American Orthodox Christianity must unify its various ethnic jurisdictions as soon as possible, and elect an American Orthodox patriarch of a united American Orthodox Church.

A united Orthodox Church would provide all American ethnic Orthodox groups with a more powerful force for achieving Orthodox goals, in addition to significantly reducing costs by eliminating duplication of products and services of each jurisdiction.

George, I couldn’t agree with you more. The duplication of efforts alone is a financial crime in this economy. That’s one reason I don’t see much of a future for SCOBA: i just don’t see how primates can justify their travel expcenses to and from a venue in which nothing of substance will be resolved.
