   This is truly a remarkable idea! These conversion stories can bring healing, benefit and salvation.

   ON THE SUNDAY OF THE SAMARITAN WOMAN

   And this is why this world still continues today, why the world has not yet ended. Until the Gospel of Christ has been preached in spirit and in truth, that is, in Orthodox manner, in all lands, throughout the world, the world cannot end. For as long as there are new Samaritans, new peoples, new tribes to hear the Truth, as long as there are people who can still potentially become Orthodox, the world must continue, for there is harvest still to be reaped.

   Let us this day pray that we too like the Samaritan Woman may bring others to the Church, testifying like Her to the Divinity of Christ, becoming reapers of that which we have not sown.

   Well, this is good, it proves that Russians that have a protestant background can voluntary become orthodox. Two, Peter Gilsquest, maybe misspelling here, how old is the liturgy, well I one a small part goes back to the time of Clement of Rome is the famous passage from Isiash: Holy,Holy, is the Lord of Sabaoth, the whole creation is full of your glory or heaven and earth are full of your glory. This is from first Clement Chapter-thirty four and line line 6 of the Loeb Classic Library,sorry folks barely can read the Greek on the other page. And Clement is most likely the 90’s A.D. when the letter was first written. Most old Liturgy like St Mark and St James have it but Hippolyius doesn’t but since it is mention by Clement it is believe that it probably was use in the Liturfy by the late first century. Third, the Church movement that Kevin Allen belong to before becoming Orthodox was a modern Montanists group that placed a lot on church prohency.

   What about changing indifferent people into seekers? Indifference invades our world as a pandemic, the worst pandemic ever. Today’s generation is a generation of indifference, a generation of spiritually blind people. Elder Cleopa of Romania defines spiritual blindness as:

   the darkness and enslavement of man soul through all kinds of spiritual and bodily sins; the pride of the mind, the hardness of heart, the weakening of man will and conscience, the unbelief, the doubt in the faith, the sectarianism and despair, the pride and suicide, the killing of body and soul, the killing of the unborn, the hate and the anger among people, divorce, fornication, lies, desire for wealth, stinginess, greediness, drunkenness, laziness and many others.

   And so is the Christian man that renounces the faith and abandons the church founded by Christ and by His Holy Apostles and falls into all sorts of heresies – no other than a spiritually blinded man! How about the Christian who does not come to the holy churches for years, does not pray nor read holy books and postpones repentance and confession until the hour of his death; is he someone other than a sick and a blinded man?

   And the man so called Christian who spends his time, his wealth and his health in earthly worries and deadly sins; what is he, if not a blind and an unfortunate soul?

   Cynthia,

   I’m not even sure what your post means. It has nothing to do with “russians that have a protestant background.”

   The truth is that there are a multitude of Americans, of every background and faith community, that are seeking.

   They are seeking the Orthodox faith.

   JTO simply gives them the chance to see others who have made the journey and make connections to assuage the difficulties and barriers one often encounters in becoming Orthodox.

   I was just mentioning that about 10 years ago a lot of Russian Orthodox were worried that if Protestant groups came to Russia then people would leave Orthodoxy or some would not convert. I met to say that some Orthodox fears in Russia given time would not always happen, people would still join the Orthodox Church even if non-orthodox churches exist in Russia, so limits to allowing non-orthodox churches in Russia are not necessary. Well, that my belief on the subject, people will of their free choice choose orthodoxy even if they are from a different background. And one of the articles was about protestants that converted to Orthodoxy in Russia not the States.
