\nFourth, I should give some clarifications on my part. With regard to Kuhn and paradigm shift, I did not press this because it seemed to me (though I might have been mistaken) that Davis was not familiar with this. I think this is a vital area in need of reflection. Furthermore, like it or not, there are times when science is co-opted simply for political reasons. Would it be fair to claim that science was the motivator? If not, why is it fair for the atheist to claim that Christianity is the motivator in analogous situations? Also, when one gets to the Q and A portion, one may note that my response concerning predestination could have been both more succinct and more accurate. Hindsight is always 20\/20.<\/p>\n
You will also note that I am heavily influenced by the Fathers, and especially the \u201cAlexandrian\u201d exegesis. That just is the way it is. Orthodox uncomfortable with this have at least been forewarned.<\/p>\n
Concerning my position, I think the key claim is that metaphysics is assumed when we do science. We believe we can separate ourselves transcendently from nature and that we can privilege a perspective. These are metaphysical claims, not physical claims.<\/p>\n
