The statement above ignores the well-known fact that there are many things in the physical world that demonstrate that the whole is more than the sum of its parts. A pile of electronics on the table can’t do anything until they are assembled into a calculator. The parts of a cell are worthless, until they are all stuck inside a sack whose walls are made of phospholipids. The most wonderful thing about the human mind being the product of millions of years of evolution is it then turned around, and decided that it was created by some other being(s).
