And for this we must reverently preserve the Orthodox Faith, standing firm in it in spite of the fact that we live in a non-Orthodox country, and not pleading as an excuse for our apostasy that “it is not the old land here but America, a free country, and therefore it is impossible to follow everything that the Church requires.” As if the word of Christ is only suitable for the old land and not for the entire world! As if the Church of Christ is not “catholic”! As if the Orthodox Faith did not “establish the universe”!
We hear more and more people talking about
the need to modernize the Church. The martyred Orthodox Church that could not be destroyed in the communist holocaust must be “improved” according to human reason.
All the denominations that are out kept changing according to their reasoning and ended up removing the Cross, the Theotokos and the saints. What is next? Removing Christ, the Lord?
Changing the rules established by the Holy Fathers guided by the Holy Spirit is blasfemy against the Holy Spirit which will not be forgiven unto eternity. Of such Apostle Paul said:
“Such apostles, workers of craftiness, assume the appearance of Apostles of Christ, and this is not astonishing since Satan himself assumes the appearance of an angel of light, so it is no great deed that his servants also assume the appearance of the servants of truth, but their end will be according to their deeds” (2 Cor. 11: 13-14).
