Very well said. I’m sure the Archbishop was not expecting the speech he got, especially with the very warm opening! If this speech is followed up by withdrawal from talks with Canterbury by the Orthodox as well as the Catholics, perhaps the Archbishop will begin to understand the dangerous road he’s traveling!

The Orthodox Church should serve as only a witness to the true faith at these ecumenical meetings in order to convert those of other faiths. Otherwise, we are merely agreeing to disagree and playing games. In his classic 1963 work, “Against False Union,” Dr. Alexander Kalomiros is poignantly terse about the dangers of being affiliated with the World Council of Churches. If the aforementioned bloggers haven’t read this short masterpiece, they should because it is painstakingly written in tough love.

The Anglican Church has rejected Christian values in recent years, and has preferred to adopt secular trends in society for its own selfish convenience. Its acceptance of female priests and hierarchs, gay marriages, and gay bishops are just a few examples that illustrate how the Anglican Church has indeed rejected the teachings of Christ.

He called it as it is, and was. There is no reasonable basis for any “liberal” Anglican to be offended. It’s 100 percent true.

The headline should be more accurately phrased, e.g., that “Metropolitan H describes current state and direction of Anglican/Orthodox relations.”
