You didn’t mention it, but porn impacts those involved as well. In a way, it’s a legal form of prostitution, it’s just that both participants (or all of them) are paid instead of just one.

The reality is that porn stars frequently end up having extreme difficulty in forging normal relationships even after they leave the business, and those in the business (particularly women) often deal with psychological and even physical abuse.

In reply to Gregory (William) Manning. This is true. Feminism destroys the feminine as well as the masculine. In fact, ideological feminism and it's hatred of patriarchy has to destroy the feminine first in order to destroy the masculine. That's why abortion has gained a near sacramental status in ideological feminism. If you can get women to devalue and sometimes despise her ability to bring forth new life, you get women to devalue themselves. It ends with the confusion you describe.

In reflecting on this very serious problem, I seem to recollect coming across articles which reported that very many young men, bewildered by the unpredictable and changing rules imposed on male/female relationships by feminists have produced a population of gun-shy young men. Much like family croquet (yes, I’m old enough to be familiar with the game) where you make up the rules as you go along then accuse your opponent of breaking them, many young men have concluded that attempting a relationship is futile because you’ll never win for losing. The one young man I know- who very much wants to marry the young woman (who has already born two of their children)- is preoccupied with a sort of “sword of Damocles” hanging over him. If for any reason the subsequent married relationship is deemed by the woman to be a failure or otherwise unworkable, it is he who will be taken to court and it is he will certainly pay the price. If it’s as bad as these articles claim, it’s not surprising young men withdraw.

C.S. Lewis hit the nail on the head when he said that, off all the passions, none make more towering promises that the erotic passions. As Orthodox Christians we know that the world also makes towering promises it will never keep. In both cases, the following quote seems pertinent. I regret that I failed to make note of who said it when I wrote it down long ago.
“Illusions are the “if only’s” and “some day’s” upon which most people base their existence. Illusions are more attractive than reality and even the most attractive reality may be abandoned in favor of the most tenuous and improbable illusions.”

I do not think it is much of a step to see the connection between sexual abuse by teachers and pervasive ponography.
