I look forward to reading the complete address. While the format of an address is likely to be too brief to outline a fully considered theological perspective on environmental concerns, it is a promising start – and a lot more thoughtful (and ultimately demanding) than the usual policy-focused pablum.

The almost total dechristianization of the Western world today did not occur under any sort of persecution. In the Orthodox World tens of millions were killed (the best of them) before it had succumbed to evil.

I’m skeptical of any spectacular good coming from RC. The state we are in now is not the result of decades of moral confusion. It is the result of the one millennium-old rejection of the Church by the Catholic/Protestant world.
