White poverty is higher in Los Angeles now versus Anaheim Ca or Houston Texas. Whites in La vote more democratic there are other factors because income but white poverty rates are ignored in study voting patterns. White poverty has been falling in Texas and most of the South which means that they depend less on the state and federal govenment. Austin has a higher white poverty rate than either Dallas or Houston and Austin is known as a liberal stronghold in Texas. Also, New York City white poverty is around 11 percent which is higher than many places and the suburbian countries in Long Island have low poverty rates. Long Island usually also votes for the Dems but sometimes might vote Republican. So, minority poverty is not the only factor. I know this is about politics but this interests me about income levels and sometimes voting patterns.

Two, the growth of the so-called red states were because of heavy hispanic immirgation immirgation, and second and third generation hispanics moving from states like California and birthrates to hispanics in states such as Arizona, Texas, Nevada and Florida, not so much as whites coming from other states like in the past. In fact, Texas remains me of California in the 1980’s, a lot of growth do to mainly immirgant growth and some out of state growth, which means that probably in the 2020’s Texas becomes a swing state like New Mexico. Also, Georgia grew do to immirgation and many blacks leaving states in the Northeast and mid-west in serach of a better life since Georgia had cheap housing until the housing boom and was growing faster, so some more jobs. Barone thinks that states can always get away by having a high minority population like Miss and whites will vote enought Republican to make that up but it doesn’t work, particulary if the minority is growing and the majority is declining.
