Metropolitan Jonah recently spoke at the Institute on Religion and Democracy. He served as the head of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA) from November 2008 until July 2012. He spoke about “Secularism and Depersonalization” and its impact on society and the church.

    I’m looking forward to listening to this as time permits because I anticipate it will be excellent. This man has keen insight into the most effective way to communicate Orthodoxy to the average Jack/Jill in our modern / post-modern American culture. Despite Metropolitan Jonah’s shortcomings, which we all have, I still believe that the OCA did grievous harm to itself and, more importantly, Orthodoxy in America / for America when they threw him under the bus…

    I couldn’t resist listening. It was an outstanding talk! Man, does he “get it” or what? A veritable rebuttal of secular materialism basically on its own terms. Clark Carlton would be proud ; ) AXIOS! AXIOS! AXIOS!

    What a loss for the OCA…
