Too cynical Alexis. While I share your sense of caution, Rome and Moscow have a track record of confronting the destructive ideas that threaten the collapse of Western culture, often at some cost to themselves. This is not to say they are perfect (perfection is an impossible standard), but they have stood in the gap. That matters. In fact, it matters a whole lot.

And I sought for a man among them, that should build up the wall, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none (Ezekiel 22:30).

It all boils down to money and power, nothing more. Pan-Orthodoxy is a pipe dream because it calls for Orthodox Unity, which means less Orthodox hierarchs getting their “cut.” I think many of them should get a regular day job and relate to “joe six-pack” in the pews. In fact, much of this interdenominational Christian division will never be resolved because of the idols of MONEY and POWER. I see very little difference between government and church – one follows this and the other (church) “claims” to follow the one and undivided Lord. What a mess. I have read and seen enough on this website, and in fact, the less I know, the better off I am. The average shlep who grinds it out day after day and tries to be good, only to look for answers to life’s real questions in Christ’s Bride, gets slapped down by the aforementioned garbage. Is it a wonder that many have been jaded and eventually walk away?
