I know the flaws of the medieval west and the Byzantine East. But when the Justinian Code and the Church in both the east and west state its wrong to have homosexual relationships and sex with children is wronged,granted in the middle ages legal married age was too young at twelve for girls and fourteen for boys. And when Justinian stated how evil it was to have a brothel next to a church or monstery even people that were engaged in the brothels knew he was right. The Orthodox Church refuse communion to those engaged in sexual relations with boys or marry girls before twelve according to a study done by doctors in Athens and sex abuse of minors in the Byzantine empire. Sex with minor boys was punished by beheading according to the Basil Law Code. Both the Catholic West in the middle ages and the Byzantine East were culturally conservative cultures that changed slowly.
