Theodoros, agreed. That’s why I think that those people, priests, and bishops (yes, bishops) who want to join an autocephalous church should meet with +Jonah and the Holy Synod and start drawing up North American dioceses. You’re right, eventually the EP (and the SP, BP, AP, etc.) will get with the program. In the meantime, we have a nation to baptize.

The movement for Orthodox unity in America can and will occur whether
the Phanar or the other Patriarchates want it to. In the end, the Phanar
will recognize Autocephaly just as it has with the other Orthodox
Churches over time.

If the Phanar must accept Autocephaly (and it should) so must the Churches
of Serbia, Rumania, Antioch, etc.. all of whom have jurisdictions in
America.

I am a big pessimist here but I have to say that I feel like we are being set-up for a Charlie Brown moment. The EP is like Lucy holding the football of American Orthodoxy. He is saying “come-on I will let you kick it this time” “Trust me” Everyone wants to believe we will be able to do it but let me tell you once the Patriarch boards “OMOGENIA-1” and flies back the Phanar it will be business as usual. The football will be pulled out from under us again.

And by this:

He means this:

“in the spirit of Gaia worship and eco-national socialism, we pledge to redouble our efforts as sycophants among different Greeks and Socialist leaning people of power.”

I really do believe that the EP could unify the Church in America in one fell swoop – if he wanted to. But he’s not after unity, he’s after power.
