Ultimately,he predicted his repose,saying as he murdered ,so he would be by thieves. Does that mean the Old Testament law still applies,just wondering? He is a wonderful ascetic. This is why in this icon he holds a basket. He was asked to appear at a synod of brethren to try a monastic who fell into sin. As he came in,he held a basket full of sand,whic was pouring sand out both in the front and back sides. Curious,the brthern asked him why he brought this to them. He replied, “How can I judge my brother of his sins when I do not see my own running behind me?” The monks forgave the fallen brother and kept him. I wish there fathers like this around.
