It was done to address concerns that the Greeks would dominate. It was done to attempt to work toward a oneness of mind. Good goals, poorly executed, IMO. The only place where it really makes a difference is in social issues and the committee for that is chaired by Met. Savas and last I knew had not even met yet despite the fact that all of the other committees have met and are actually working at their assigned tasks. apparently producing results including a structure for a united Church.

I think it is important to note that the EA’s mandate is not to speak publically for the Church, but to organize the Church so that it is more unified in form and content. As such it is largely an internal group at this time.

The impression left is that the Orthodox Church has nothing to say. That says something too.

There is never unanimity on this kind of thing. They need to change the voting rules, say 70% agreement or so. Five votes hold back 66 gives a lot of authority to a small minority.

That is what it means. There was a response prepared and ready to go for the ruling on DOMA but 5 bishops did not want it sent out. Some of the 5 thought it was too lax, others too stringent. For those who thought it too lax, they allowed the perfect to be the enemy of the good.

One would think the Jews would be at the head of the line…screaming for assistance for the Copts. NOTHING. They are good liberal Democrats first, and Jews second.

Where are the Orthodox? Silence.
