Leave a comment? No, I think it is better that I don’t, but thanks for asking!
well, what els is there to say? The newsreader was quite fetching.
Memorial prayers are always good, I suppose. Apart from any relationship the person in the story may or may not have had (the sound on my computer isn’t working), modern celebrity tends to create a false sense of intimacy with a false image of that person. As a result, many people can be surprisingly affected by such events (which seem to occur once or twice a year). While this is at least a better response to MJ’s death than many we have seen, I am left with two questions: (1) Who is the real object of our worship? and (2) Why are these prayers not being offered for the myriad unknown and uncelebrated people who need them as much?
Other than the fact that it involves Michael Jackson, I guess I’m not sure how this is relevant to American Orthodoxy?
